Climbing shoes are a special type of shoes designed for climbing.

These shoes are not suitable for walking. Most of these shoes are made of soft and strong leather and a kind of sticky rubber.

which fits well at the foot of the ascender and surrounds it.

Recommendations for choosing the right shoes are given below.

Climbing is a sport with a lot of movement variety and elegance.

There are different types of climbing, which can take from a few seconds (such as speed climbing) to several days (such as rock climbing).

Features of climbing shoes:

Climbing shoes have unique characteristics

which can be chosen depending on the type of climbing you do, the shape of your foot and the feeling you get from it.

The size of climbing shoes usually increases by about half a size after a short period of use

You should keep this in mind when buying.

Beginners and novices should go less for professional and aggressive shoes.

Such shoes usually put a lot of pressure on the feet, which can be harmful for the feet in the long run.

especially the shape of the toe down and the curve of offensive shoes (their beak shape)

It may not feel good to a beginner climber and distract him from the technique during the climb.

So it is better for these people to go for shoes that have less arch curvature in the toe part

And on the other hand, put a little pressure on the paw when wearing.

Those stone shoes that have dry, thick and non-curved soles.

They are often used for long and long ascents such as climbing walls of several hours or several days

But climbers who climb at the professional level are looking for more aggressive shoes

And therefore, the shoes chosen by them are softer with beak shape and with more pressure on the toe.

So that the climber can have a better sense and understanding of the grips under his feet and put pressure on his shoes with more confidence.

The effect of climbing shoes on heart rate

In a study, the effect of rock climbing shoes and mountaineering shoes on heart rate as a measure of physical performance was investigated:

In this study, five female recreational climbers (with an average age of 36 years, an average height of 172 cm, an average weight of 72 kg)

and five male recreational rock climbers (with an average age of 34 years, an average height of 1181 cm, an average weight of 78 kg)

They participated in regular rock climbing activities with a +b5 route grade.

As a result, both groups climbed both the rock climbing route with rock climbing shoes and the mountaineering route with special shoes.

The heart rate results were expressed as follows:

Significant increase in heart rate from 94.3 beats per minute to 136 beats per minute

Using rock climbing shoes and increasing the heart rate from 111 beats per minute to 148 beats per minute while wearing climbing shoes was observed.

As a result, the final values of heart rate per minute were significantly higher when climbing with climbing shoes, compared to rock climbing shoes.

And shoes should be considered as an indicator in the athlete’s foot.
